Have we actually been having an effect?
Dr. Vil-Am Ben A‘Him, Co-director of YAHWEH Academy of Light
For years now many of us have been praying, drumming, chanting, dancing and intending for our planet to heal and become a more peaceful, loving place to live.
Following the news and trends throughout the world one is lead to believe that everything is falling apart and the violence and man’s inhumanity to man is at an all time high. It would be easy then to assume that all the prayers and desires for peace have been in vain. Many may find themselves being depressed, feeling disempowered and doubting much of what they believed they were here to accomplish.
Well to my surprise reading in the mainstream magazine Newsweek we found an excerpt from a recently published book entitled ‘The Post-American World’ by Fareed Zakaria that paints a totally different picture. Mr. Zakaria asks just how violent is today’s world and although the media continually reports that we live in dangerous times he found studies that point to the opposite.
“A team of scholars at the University of Maryland has been tracking deaths caused by organized violence. Their data show that wars of all kinds have been declining since the mid-1980s and that we are at the lowest levels of global violence since the 1950s. Deaths from terrorism are reported to have risen in recent years. But on closer examination, 80 percent of those casualties come from Afghanistan and Iraq , which are really war zones with ongoing insurgencies- and the overall numbers remain small. Looking at the evidence, Harvard’s polymath professor Steven Pinker has ventured to speculate that we are living “in the most peaceful time of our species’ existence.”
But why does it feel that we live in scary times? Perhaps it has to do with the amount of exposure we have on a daily basis concerning every bomb that has exploded and every act of violence that happens. It just seems that there is so much, the perception becomes our reality.
Let us go back to remembering all our prayers, perhaps they have been working all along. Perhaps we have been having an effect for years and it’s just that we may need to over ride the mass perception and not allow our velocity to be effected by the misconception.
In
the late seventies many were awakened to a greater sense of awareness and responsibility for the healing of our plant. Those first waves of ‘light workers’ and many more since have been actively involved in uplifting Earth’s vibration and according to the statistics began to have an effect on violence in the 1980s.
Throughout all the perceived chaos our lessons are to perhaps believe in our power to transform and have faith that our mission here on Planet Earth is succeeding.
